Review: The Science Of The Soul

I’ll admit, I was very leery of this book. Usually books that try to explain something scientific tend to use scientific terms. In other words I usually can’t make heads or tails of what they are trying to say. Kevin Favero has done an excellent job of explaining everything so that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand.

While I have always had faith that we do have a soul Mr. Favero has done an excellent job of giving scientific evidence to back that faith up. Free will is the basic premise behind this book. I will give two of his points here, the ones that made the most sense for me.

1) Human beings have free will which allows them to make free choices.
2) Human brains that are only made up of atoms and molecules that are subject to the laws of physics cannot on their own make free choices.

Free will is the major point that I took away from the book. He explains this is great detail. There are also sections on the soul brain interface. In other words how the brain and soul interact together. There is also the obligatory math section which I admittedly just skimmed as math and I do not get along well.

Over all it was a very good read and well worth the time invested. It has great points and is full of ammo to use with your non-believing acquaintances. I recommend it to Christians and non-Christians alike as every one can learn something from it.
