On eating and obsessions!

I can assure you it won’t be as interesting as the title sounds but I at least got you to read this far!

First let’s talk about eating. Not just eating but favorite things to eat. My tastes tend to change over time. Something I love one month may be disgusting to me the next. Not sure why that is but I just go with it. Sure there are a few things that remain constant. I love love love mashed potatoes! I could eat them anytime, anywhere! Another one is fried chicken. Oh man I will eat it hot cold or on the verge of mold. I just love fried chicken. My wifes is the best but drop me near a Popeye’s or KFC and the drool will start almost instantly! Biscuits and sausage gravy, when made right, can make me weep with joy. Not many make it that well, my grandma, so far, is the only one but it is a start.

Enough about food for now. I have no access to any of those things at the moment and I am only making what I do have seem rather unappealing!

Now about obsessions, not that skanky perfume that whats-her-face makes but the real thing. Namely my obsession with bibles, not just reading them but having all the translations that I can get my hands on. I have quite a few but I also have a lot to go and with new ones coming out frequently I am sure there are more on the horizon! Oh I have King James, and New International, the New American Standard and several more. A few of the more notables that I still don’t have are an amplified version and a Greek text version. No I could never read the Greek one but I still want it just the same. Why do I want most of these versions? Well I am fascinated with the variations in the way they have been interpreted. They all have their own translation theory and since they do, they all have their own way of saying the same thing!

Maybe in a future post I will point out some of the more interesting differences. Some make it clear while others obscure the meaning in a cloud of verbosity. Alright, enough yacking, I need to go read a couple of my favorites, blogs that is!

Goodness, you’ve gone and made me drool. But I bet you do that to lots of women… ;-) You and mashed potatoes! Do you like them flavored with Ranch dressing? There’s a restaurant, I can’t remember which- but their’s are to die for, there a little shreds of the skin in them, some garlic, butter. Yummee. (Is it Red Lobster?) You just made me remember, one of the first “conversations” we had here was about comfort foods, remember? That’s how I knew I’d like you!
Speaking of bibles, Jerry “inherited” his grandfather’s bible, complete with notes and underlinings, etc. and it’s a cherished posession of his. What is an “amplified” version?
