Giving back the love.

March 17, 2007 · Posted in Blog

I am giving back the love that is shown on my blog. See, Wordpress puts a rel=nofollow on links to commenter’s sites. What that does is it tells search engines not to follow that link so your page rank won’t go up no matter how many times you comment. The purpose of this is to stop spammers from commenting and increasing their page rank.

Unfortunately it really doesn’t work. In theory maybe, but not in practice. They still hammer my blog hard and my anti-spam measures still catch them, for the most part. One did get through once but it was just a luck of the draw thing for him.

Anyway I just wanted to share the linky love that you all give so now when you comment it will actually be followed by the search crawlers. Of course this also means that I will have to take into account whether the comment has anything to do with the post before I approve it. Because while I am catching 99.9% of the spam bots the human spammers can get in easy. But if they want in they will have to actually read the post and make a useful comment!

Peace out y’all

Was this supposed to make me feel all warm and fuzzy? I’m not even sure what you just said. But thanks, I guess.

I just re-read and it sunk in this time. Thank you very much :-) I keep looking over my shoulder now, looking to see what’s following me…

What is that hymn that says “Trem-ble, trem-ble” (sing in a very low key) Well, that’s me now. ;-Þ
