Happy Monday, yet again

As a general rule, I hate Mondays and I hate mornings. Now when you combine the two that doesn’t make them better, it just makes it that much worse!

It was a very strange weekend and seemingly short also. I found out on Thursday that a friend of mine had passed away from cancer the week prior. I spent most of the weekend coming to terms with that. It hasn’t been easy but I am confident that he is with God now so all I can do is wait to join him.

It really brought the whole mortality thing home for me since he was younger than I am and didn’t smoke as much as I do. He was a pretty cool guy and he will be missed. I only wish I had had a chance to see him before he was gone.

Alright, back to that early morning thing. I don’t like ‘em so I am going back to bed now for a bit!

Sorry, this is a no Fry Day friday

I just didn’t have the time to put into it this week. It has been crazy around here and with the girls on fall break that makes it all the crazier!

Fry Day will be back next week for sure. I already have a place picked out and I am ready!

Trying it out

I am just trying out this theme to see how well it works with my site. If you come across any problems please let me know in the comments. Unless it is the comments that aren’t working for you then I guess you need to email me which you can do on the contact page!

Oh, not again!

It’s parent-teacher conference time. I am sitting here trying to psych myself up for this. I never feel comfortable when I am there. I always feel like I did when I was in school and getting in trouble!

I do my very best to look attentive but I usually end up looking fidgety and nervous, I can’t help it though. It seems like every conference in my life has been a bad thing and now that they are for the girls I have been conditioned!

This does not bode well for anyone!

This is one of those experiences that went downhill quickly and viciously!

It started out well enough. The appearance of the fries was quite pleasant. I was actually looking forward to digging into them. The color was nice, they smelled good. I just didn’t notice the shine!

These fries were very very greasy and not in a good way. It was visible on the packaging and all over my fingers after eating just one. I did not know a fry could hold twice it’s weight in grease but I do now!

The spicing on the fries was good, in other words you could taste it. But what kept overbearing everything else was the taste of grease. They tasted just like the grease smells, yuck! Sadly, I had to stop eating them well before they were gone as I just couldn’t take the greasiness anymore. I may have to go get my arteries roto rootered out after this!

Conclusion, well I used to like Arby’s fries but I think this experience will change that forever!

How about a couple of photos of the artery cloggers:

I think you oughta know this!

I haven’t done this in awhile but I feel the need today. Lets look at some search engine queries that have led people to my site. These are always fun and sometimes educational for those who may perform future searches and end up here. As always my responses will be inside the

Trailer Park Girls (I really wish I had never quoted an Eminem song now, this shows up way too much)

Fry Day (Congrats you are in the right place)

reames noodles recipes (Just throw ‘em in anything, they make awesome beef and noodles)

wife is on vacation and i am depressed ( I am so sorry, I understand, really I do. Next time give her some cash and tell her to go to the Bahamas or something that way she isn’t there making you do the honeydo list!)

These aren’t as good as previous ones but the wife is on vacation one was just too good to pass up. I hope this post finds everyone doing well!

God bless.

Fry Day #4 Steak and Shake

For this Fry Day we will pick on the sleeping giant:

Info:
Steak and Shake
Franklin, IN
Time of day: 9:20am

All ratings except hot are a 1-10 scale. Hot is how long they remain warm.

Taste: 6
Appearance: 7
Saltiness: 2
Crispiness: 8
Hot: 10 minutes
Quantity: (Stated 141g) (Actual 140g)
Price:$1.79
Value: $.012785 per gram

First off may I say, we have a new loser on the value scale! These guys are slightly more expensive per gram than any I have rated so far. But on the plus side at least the weight was close.

The taste was pretty good but as I went along I noticed an underlying hint of something burnt. This could be caused by old oil or they just burnt something either way it was still there but it wasn’t overbearing.

The slim cut of these fries does not lend itself well to the heat scale as they just don’t stay warm long. I have had many times where they have been cold before they even got to the table. This time was an exception and they actually stayed warm for awhile, although I did cradle them near my sandwich for some extra insulation. It’s fall people, turn the darn AC down!

There was no salt on these fries at all, not a grain. They did have a little zing to them but I am going to attribute that to the oil they were fried in, which we will cover next!

I am rating them high on greasiness. I could feel it all over my lips and tongue after the meal. No it wasn’t from the sandwich, I ate it last! I still can’t get the greasy feel out of my mouth, I don’t like that at all.

My overall for Steak and Shake is going to have to be low. I just can’t get past how greasy the fries are and I really wish they would find a way to keep them warm longer. Oh and they might want to throw some salt on there every once in awhile!

Only one photo this time, the others didn’t turn out that well. Maybe I should carry my light tent with me!

Hey cool!

I had been whining yesterday about my horrid luck and lo and behold if it didn’t change. Not till I got home tonight but anyway…

I was surfing around the other night and found this site called “Take My Tech” ran by Jason Burns of Philoking.com. Basically what he does is he posts his tech stuff that he doesn’t need anymore and then, well here let me use his words:

* Leave a comment on the item you want.
* When the item reaches 100 comments it will be randomly given away to one of those readers!
* Emails will not be sold or used for other reasons
* one comment per item
* rude or profane comments will be deleted!

Anyway, the comments finally hit 100 for the backpack I had been coveting and when he did the drawing I won, woo hoo.

From what I understand he is counting on ad revenue to pay for shipping and running the site. Sounds like a pretty cool idea and I hope it works out for him, hey maybe he could even turn a profit if enough people hit the site! Go check it out, you really have nothing to lose!
