Sing a song of…

Alright, imagine if you will, the most annoying thing you can think of.

Got it?

Now multiply the annoyance factor by 10.

Are you there?

You still aren’t even close to this!

I like to play a game sometimes. See when people get on my nerves, rather than ignore them I get even. So I play a game with them. I call it sing song. From the point I declare game on, I will take a word from everything they say and find a song with that word and start singing it to them. There is a goal and yes I can win the game. See, the game goes something like this:

coworker: Jeff, can you help me with this?

me: Help, I need somebody. Help, not just anybody.

coworker: Jeff, come here please.

me: Here I go again on my own, walking down the only road I’ve ever known.

Can you see how this works so far?

Here’s the goal line, the idea is to get them to tell me to shut up!

coworker: Shut up

me: Up up and away in my beautiful my beautiful balloon.

Oh the joy I get from this game. It may not seem like much now, but you should try it sometime. I guarantee you will enjoy it. Also, it keeps your mind sharp trying to think of a song as quickly as possible. Don’t worry about it when you get stuck, just make one up if you have to. Now get digging through your music collection and get ready to drive someone nuts!

Jeff, I love this! Will start bright and early tomorrow morning…
Incidentally, or coincidentally, I started a new game of my own just this morning.
There this woman I work with. (Take the above annoyance factor x 20) She’s the resident gossip and thrives on bad news. And everything is prefaced or followed by “They said…” (ie. They said four to six inches, turning to freezing rain, yadda yadda yadda- you get the picture) Today I decided all the rest of us would get a (pretend) dollar every time she said “they said…” In less than 20 minutes I had $38. Too bad it’s pretend. That works out to over a hundred bucks an hour! We could all retire in a year and never have to listen to her again.

I already do this with a couple of my co-workers. But not to get even, we do it because it makes us laugh.
