I think it's Nature's way of saying, dammit, we are going to repopulate, no matter what you humans do to us. Just the other day I instructed the grandson (over the phone) on the fine art of wearing these on his nose. "Sweet" was his comment when he'd achieved the task. I’ve noticed so many more of these (we call them) helicopters this year, more than ever before.
