Since I have been on medical leave I have had a lot of time on my hands. When I am not feeling ill I have been doing something that I used to love, cooking! I have worked in several restaurants over the years and have always loved to cook. Sometimes I like to experiment or just make new(to me) things.
I have always loved Baklava but had never made it before, so I had to try. It came out pretty well but I must say it is a bit of a pain to make. When they say to put a damp cloth over the dough you better believe it. At first I didn’t, but I only lost a couple sheets of the very thin dough.
Did everyone like it?
The adults did.
Was it easy to make?
Yes and no.
Will I ever make it again?
Probably not!
Did I take a picture of it?
Yes and here is a single serving of it.

I believe for your healing too, for God’s perfect will and for you to be in strength and good health. May He restore the time stolen and your journey be clear. Praise God…
I love baklava! Made it once, many years ago. Never want to do it again. But there’s a Greek food festival going on this weekend in East Pittsburgh. I may have to go and get some of theirs.
You just made my mouth water, Jeff! The baklava, I mean
I’m jealous tho’. I lovelovelove to cook but hatehatehate baking. As for eating either, well, we all know I’m great at that.
Which reminds me of something Hazel made for the reunion this past weekend which was scrumptious. Have you had Buffalo Chicken dip? If not, I’m sure you can find a recipe on the ‘net. Well, she thought it would be a good idea to add pasta (shells) and omg, was she right! You must try it.
I love to cook, and I love Baklava, but it never occurred to me to make it. I have a feeling it doesn’t go together too quickly.
It looks delicious.

@M+ – Get some for me too. I am never making it again!
@One Wink – Buffalo chicken dip, sounds interesting. If I ever heal I may give it a try.
@cassie-b – I was amazed at how long it did take. Peeling apart the phyllo dough takes forever!
Gee whiz Jeff, how insensitive of me. Sorry! The thing is, you wouldn’t HAVE to add the Red Hot Sauce, it would be just as good without it.
@One Wink -
No, not insensitive. I love spicy foods and as soon as I get over this hurdle I will be jumping back into the spicy train!
Let’s hope you get back on the train real soon. Woo, woo! Chugga, chugga!
Don’t mind me, ain’t had a full cup of coffee yet… Hope you’re doing better today.
