No pics Monday

Mostly because I spent all my time getting my computer set up. We bought a used one from a school. I just had to beef up the memory and hard drives and I’m golden. Much better than the old one, and much faster. Maybe something tomorrow.

Yet another post about the wedding!

First, you couldn’t get anything out of me about the wedding. Now, I won’t shut the heck up about it!

One thing I have learned about weddings, always watch the children, they make some of the best shots sometimes!

Alas, I promised not to use any of them where a child had jammed a finger up their nose, classics!

The wedding Part II

Well when you are shooting weddings, one thing is for certain. Make sure the bride is happy, after that, everything is cake! So with that in mind, there are certain shots, cliche though they may be, that are expected. And if you can throw a cutesy frame around it, all the better. With that warning, I give you this:

I can’t say that I am particularly fond of this image either, but at least I had some control over the lighting in it. Yes, this is a staged shot, I would never get this close or in the way during a ceremony.

About that wedding

Yeah, you thought I forgot didn’t you?

Here’s the story. The photos are alright, but not my best work. When I signed on to do this I had no idea where the ceremony was being held. That was my first mistake. I couldn’t back out after seeing the place, that would have been unprofessional so I was stuck. So what was it about this place that I didn’t like? Let’s start with the fact that it was a gymnasium, an extra large gymnasium at that. Ceiling, two stories up! Windows you ask, small rectangles about 3×5 feet next to the ceiling, oh and they were all covered up. Lovely!

Anyway, I will share some shots over the next few days. Here is one of my favorites, although the brides back should have been more out of focus.

Is it irony, or just really amusing?

I have been driving this road a lot over the last few weeks. I had noticed the new billboard, but not really read it. The other day, Becky brought the whole picture to my attention.

Billboards

Now a close up of the first one:

It reads “By the way don’t text and drive thank you very much” for the txt challenged.

Now how about that second billboard:

Oh sweet heavens, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. This had to be planned. Just thought I would share this with you.

It’s called stalling!

I walked the park several times. Passed the old tree quite a bit too. I never really looked at it though. Other than notice it was quite old, it never really stuck out to me. Finally, I did slow down, I took a look at this majestic old tree and saw this:

It took a bit of looking for me, I am getting older and I have never been real observant. When I did see it though, the emotions that washed over me where overwhelming. My curiosity ran wild. I wanted to know who put it there? How long ago? Are they still together, still alive? I may never solve these mysteries, but with this snapshot, they will forever haunt my thoughts.

Sup?

Yeah, I know, but I am trying really! I am still wading through several shots from the wedding. I will post some of them here soon! Here is something to tide you over till I get through.

I am doing something, I have proof!

Between the wedding shoot and a recent portrait shoot, I have been kept busy. Honestly, I should be working on the photos right now, but I wanted to get something up here so you can see what it is I am doing.

This shot is from the portrait session, my Pastors daughter. She’s a blast to work with and also a really great singer.

I am still working on it, this is a rough draft. The only part of photography that slows me down is the retouching and getting them ready to print.
