There’s just no way to sugar coat a blah grey day like this!

Yes it was time for my annual “volunteering” to photograph at the Indiana para-transit roadeo. As usual it was a lot of fun and as usual I took way too many photos. It took forever to sort through them and pick the ones they would want versus ones that I shot more for myself.

Finally done with that portion of the task and now I have to burn them to disc and distribute them. I am going to share one of my favorites now and get off here so I can watch the storm that’s getting ready to hit!

I’ll warn you now, this post may get a little boring!

First photo up is my old school, North White. I tried to close crop it since they have built on a lot since I went there. Matter of fact this building used to be the whole school, now they have separate buildings for everything. I guess my little school grew up!

Next up is the Monon theater, It may not look like much but to me it was an escape. At one point my dad ran this theater. He let me run the projectors for awhile, my first real job. There were perks to having my dad run the theater, not the least of which was the free popcorn!

Now lets take a look at a place I have mentioned here before, Querry Pharmacy. I have so many fond memories of the place that I can’t possibly recall them all here. They had a soda fountain with the best root beer in the world! They had a rack of comic books and magazines which I was constantly picking through. They sold 45′s (yes that’s dating myself a bit) I love music so after the comics were all perused I went straight to the music section. It has been stripped of it’s former glory, all that remains is the word Coca Cola painted onto the window. Oh yeah, here’s the photo:

Lets look at a mural, not just any mural mind you, but one the high school painted to celebrate the bi-centennial in 1976. I remember that year, the celebration was over the top, especially for such a small town. They had live music, vendors, rides, and games all set up in the middle of Main street!

Monon was pretty much based around the railroad for the longest time. I’m sure you’ve heard of or seen a Monon railroad reference, or maybe not. This was the towns identity for the longest time until people stopped riding the trains everywhere. Soon a large company formed there called Monon Trailer. It soon became the towns identity, they were proud of their factory. It kept the town alive for many years, then it faded away. There was some scandal, maybe a little borrowing of money from the till and it was gone. Others tried to take it’s place but it was never the same. Now, Monon has taken back it’s railroad identity, much less embarrassing!

I was going to do a big spread on the town park, that was my favorite place to go when money was tight. I loved the playground, now most of it’s gone, replaced with some monstrosities that they deem “safe”. There was a horse corral where they had regular horse shows, gone! You used to be able to go out into the woods and hike, now private property. So what was left of the park for me, not much. Just this broken down old bridge, I totally identify with it now!

Sitting here watching “Ghost Adventures”, this show cracks me up. I am addicted to shows like this, not sure why but there you go.

Anyway let’s get to the point. I am ill, of course, and while I was staring at the TV I remembered that I hadn’t posted anything on my poor little neglected blog. I had gotten out the other day, not far or long, just waiting for Desi to get done working the car wash for her school. I did snap a few photos, nothing to write home about but they are better than nothing.

This was on the side of a pizza place nearby, too bad they don’t make cutesy ads like this anymore.

Sorry it’s not a technical masterpiece but all I had was my point and shoot with me.

But I don’t boogie, I can’t boogie and never could boogie. But that is neither here nor there. But the title is a good intro to a new photo. This was just taken with my point and shoot but I like it.

The fair is over, I am going to miss it. 351 more days till the next one!

It started sometime this morning but it was just melting. By noon it was sticking pretty well. It was still going a few minutes ago and blowing all over the place. Glad it’s the weekend and I have nowhere I have to be. Here’s a view from the window, not the best picture, point and shoots are not known for their night shooting abilities and I was too lazy to get out the DSLR.

I have been shirking my blogging duties and must make that up to you in some way. I could try and make some wordy diatribe about nothing in particular, but I am sure you would see through that ploy. I could talk about the books I have been reading lately but not putting into my Now Reading list. I think I will skip the much ado about nothing and go for the books.

I have been reading anything Peanuts lately. I go to the library and just start looking. Not sure why I have this sudden fixation on Charlie Brown and the gang but it has been keeping me amused.

Oh the game Sunday was awesome, the Colts beat the pants off the Seahawks. It appeared that they even started feeling sorry for the hawks and let them score at the end of the game. The Colts had actually started using substitute players just to give them some play time!

I will show you a couple pics of the suite today and maybe of the game tomorrow.

The seating is much more comfortable that the rest of the stadium, no surprise there.

I don’t have a truly wide angle lens so this was the best I could do but the suite is very nice and roomy. I really enjoyed the free food and beer!

These were taken after the game so the food and drinks were gone by the time I took them. Did I mention that they have an in chair massage available to the suites! How weird is that?

Thats some deep stuff right there. If you can guess what song I got that title from, I will give you a prize. What prize you ask? My unending respect for actually knowing that!

While the women folk were picking cherries, I wandered off and took photos of things around me. This one was my favorite of the day!

This is from our March trip to the cabin. I had meant to post it much earlier but well, you know how I am. Anyway, here it is. All I have done to it is tweak the saturation some and cropped a bit. Enjoy, it brought back some good memories for me.
