It is a rhetorical question basically since I’ve already done just that.

The girls made me breakfast and lunch in bed. It was nice to feel like a king for a day.

As far as turning 46, it’s no big deal. Just another birthday to me. Now when I hit 50, lookout, I will probably not be as passive. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

I just want to say thank you to everyone for all their birthday wishes today. To those of you who forgot.    :-p

It was a simple day, which was exactly what I wanted. Woke up late with Anna making me breakfast in bed, toaster waffles in case you are wondering what a 9 year old would be safe making.

That was followed by quite a bit more lounging and drifting in and out of consciousness. Had a light lunch with Anna followed by some vigorous TV watching. After that we went to pick up Desi from school came back home and waited for Becky to get off work.

Out for dinner at Pizza King, yes that is what I picked for my birthday meal this year. From there we went to our church prayer meeting then back home and sent everyone off to bed. That leads us to this point, my whole day in a nutshell!

Now I am going to lie here and toss and turn for a bit.

She is getting older and taller. I have taken to pushing down on her head daily and telling her to stop growing. I can’t believe she’s already nine. She is getting closer to the age when dad won’t be cool anymore. I dread that day, but know it is inevitable. Until then I will continue to hug her several times a day, tuck her in at night and say her bed time prayers with her.

Some day she will come upon this blog and read all the things that I have written about her over the years. When she does, I hope she sees the love packed into every word.

I just wanted to pop in here and tell everyone that I had a great birthday Tuesday and to thank all the well wishers.

Becky and I went out to take advantage of the free Grand Slam from Denny’s. I was surprised, I was ready for a horrible wait and a substandard breakfast at best. What I got was speedy service and the same Slam I have come to know and love. We only waited about 10 minutes to get a seat and from there about 5 till we got our breakfast. Well done Denny’s!

Later we all went out to eat at my favorite restaurant, Joe’s Crab Shack. I could eat there everyday if I could afford it.

All in all, a great day spent with the people I love!

Mashed tater

Eight years ago today I was bursting with joy. Eight years ago today you couldn’t have stopped me from smiling. I was holding you in my arms at that hospital and refusing to let you go.

As you grow I see little bits of me in you. You can look at things that make others feel bad, and laugh. You can amuse yourself for hours on end with a notebook and a pen. You and I are together on the fact that there are some things to vile to eat or even try.

When you get hurt I hurt too. When you are sad, I cry too. When you are happy my life seems so much brighter.

It’s filmed in Disney digital 3D. It was a lot of fun for the girls and I enjoyed it myself. Of course I am such a music junkie that it was inevitable that I would. The 3D made it more lifelike and the backstage and behind the scenes shots were really cool.

I must say that Miley is really talented and I envy her energy level. She has a promising career ahead of her. I just hope she doesn’t fall into the same trap that a lot of successful musicians fall into. I think Billy Ray will see to that though.

I am soooo tired now. I have had a full day, the longest birthday day for me ever. I am outta here, see ya on the flip!

I have taken extra days for both these weekends for fun and education.

The education was a marriage retreat that Becky and I attended on Friday and Saturday. We worked our way through the Five Love Languages video series. It was actually quite a bit of fun. I know a few guys may wonder what kind of fun there could possibly be at a marriage retreat. Well I learned a lot about some of my fellow church members, including some things that I really didn’t want to know. We have blackmail material!

The next weekend is my birthday, well the Friday part of it anyway. Feel free to send cash and expensive gifts my way.

Seriously though, I have always taken my birthday off. I think I do it mostly out of the fear of what I would do to my co-workers if they kept harassing me about it being my birthday. I don’t want to go to prison and have a cell buddy named Bubba.

Could someone call me when January starts? It feels more like late fall than late winter out there!
