Have you ever been mellow

I have been silent this weekend, I apologize, a little.

See, we had our company Christmas party on Saturday and the jury is still out on whether it was worth it or not. I spend enough time with those people throughout the week, why do I have to hang with them on my weekend?

My biggest problem with the whole thing was they decided to have it in a piano bar. I have nothing against pianos, just bars. I have never really liked bars, even when I was drinking a lot I didn’t do it in bars. I have always felt that the whole atmosphere in most bars is a little too rowdy for my taste.

The piano players were quite good though and kept us entertained. I do enjoy piano music and they knew pretty much anything that I threw at them for requests. Everyone else was requesting stupid stuff that really doesn’t go well on a piano but they played them anyway. They were happy that at least I was trying.

I have some photos but for the sake of my job I won’t post them, unless they tick me off again, then all bets are off!

So how was your weekend?

Good gravy, it’s almost here!

Did you realize that there is only 29 more days till Christmas. I am so completely not ready for this. No decorations up yet, I don’t even have them out and untangled. I do have some presents but not nearly all of them. It’s times like this…

Our company Christmas party is this coming Saturday. I haven’t felt this combination of dread and loathing in a long time. I really need to find a job that I am capable of handling with my less than super health.

All I want for Christmas it to feel better. I won’t even ask for good, just better!

Where’s the snow?

Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas. I am still recovering as we celebrated it twice, thats a lot of food people.

First Christmas was Saturday with my family. I don’t see them near enough even though they live only 120 miles away. I just hate driving that far. Had lots of fun and got to see my nieces. They are growing so fast.

Second one was on Monday at our house with Becky’s family. It was interesting to say the least. I love family gatherings, they bring out the dramatist in everyone!

I got some interesting gifts, including cash which I used to buy us a new microwave. The one we had was getting old and unreliable. The new one is about twice the size, which was not really a good thing. It takes up the whole portion of the counter where the other one was. I can live with it though as long as my popcorn and tv dinners come out right again!

I got an old Ansco medium format camera that seems to be in working order. I am going to run a roll of film through it soon and see what happens! I love old film cameras they are always so unpredictable!

My youngest bought me a calculator that is shaped like a chocolate bar and it is scented so it smells like one too. That is a dieting accident waiting to happen.

Got a new book, “Brother Odd (Odd Thomas Novels)” by [google]Dean Koontz[/google]. I have been reading it since I got it Saturday and am loving every minute of it.

And they’re off

When did school become so day off oriented? It seems like they get off every other week for something. I understand the legit holidays like Christmas and Easter and even Martin Luther King day. But some of the stuff they get off for is just sad now. They actually had a day off so the teachers could sit around in a meeting all day and brainstorm ideas for change. Whats that you say, the principal stubbed his toe, oh my lets have another day off!

My stint on third shift will be short lived. They found someone to take it over after only two weeks. I have never seen them move so fast on anything in my life. I knew I was a pain in the butt, but I had no idea it was this bad! ;-)
I would love to say I am happy about this but deep down I am disappointed as I was really enjoying my time on third. I got to spend more time with my family and work with people who can tolerate my sense of humor.
