So I said I planned on getting out and doing some photography, didn’t happen. Not really a big surprise there! Of course there was a reason behind this. Aside from the fact that I have been slightly ill. I have been dealing with the social security stuff.

Did I mention that I am getting my disability? Did I mention that God really does answer prayer. Too many really awesome and slightly out of left field things have happened over the last three days. I found out Monday that my disability had been approved, Tuesday I found out there was more to that than expected, Wednesday I got a check in the mail that I never expected to come.

Like I said, the last three days have been amazing and slightly overwhelming. I was glad to go to my prayer meeting Wednesday night, it is always enjoyable to share with my church the prayers that do get answered.

So while I am sure there were multiple people involved with getting me my disability, I am giving all the credit and praise to God, He is truly amazing. Alright, that’s all for the moment. I really need to get some rest.

Finished my church’s website except for a few photos and a ling. But at least it’s live. I wasn’t real thrilled at first about the prospect of doing it, I haven’t worked with HTML in a long time, long.

Once I got going though it was alright. I got on a roll and finished on deadline. There have been some changes since I last used HTML also, why do they have to mess with what I know?

Anyway, it killed a week and now I can go back to being bored!

Yes, I did enjoy my birthday, thanks for asking. It was a simple day, which was exactly what I wanted. Woke up late with Anna making me breakfast in bed, toaster waffles in case you are wondering what a 9 year old would be safe making.

That was followed by quite a bit more lounging and drifting in and out of consciousness. Had a light lunch with Anna followed by some vigorous TV watching. After that we went to pick up Desi from school came back home and waited for Becky to get off work.

Out for dinner at Pizza King, yes that is what I picked for my birthday meal this year. From there we went to our church prayer meeting then back home and sent everyone off to bed. That leads us to this point, my whole day in a nutshell!

Now I am going to lie here and toss and turn for a bit.

Church had an event tonight so I spent the night taking photos of young’ens. They had a lot of fun, I did too. While I was outside I noticed that the moon looked particularly nice tonight so I took a shot of it as well. I will share that photo with you:

Today we laid to rest a Godly man and a great friend.

Jim was always working to further the kingdom of Christ, he had no off button when it came to that. He loved the Lord and he loved helping others. It was Jim who brought me back to Christ some years ago. He got me in church by inviting me to their Easter egg hunt and breakfast. I have been in that church ever since.

Last year, when he first became ill, we went to visit him in the hospital. We brought him some fruit and had a nice chat. As we got up to go, he asked us over so he could pray FOR US. The man is in the hospital, no one at the time knew for sure what was wrong, and he wanted to pray for us! Ask anyone who knew him and they would repeat this as well. It was in his nature to pray for people, even in his own weakness.

⁹But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

Thank you Jim for what you have done for me and countless others. Thank you for reintroducing me to the glory of Christ. Thank you for the fun times we shared.

The wedding went very well all things considered. It was my step son and I was quite tired for some reason. Thankfully it is over and I can get back to some semblance of sanity around here.

Now begins the long arduous task of sorting through the photos and retouching any that need it. Hopefully there won’t be as many in need of help as last time. After all we were in an actual church this time instead of a gymnasium.

Thankfully, I actually knew someone at this wedding. It makes it a whole lot easier when you know who to go to and ask questions.

I will throw you all a bone here. This is one of the groom and his groomsmen. They were acting like mannequins, while it doesn’t play out as well in the actual photo, it was hilarious at the time!

Back to work now!

Last Sunday our church had a balloon liftoff. Of course I caught it on camera and decided to share one of the photos here. I liked this one, not sure why but it just stuck out to me.

My church is having Kidz Kamp this week. It is going to consume my evenings since I am the photo guy. My family is taking part in a community yard sale Saturday, that is eating up my mornings trying to get stuff together.

Is summer over yet?

So it was a bit stormy last night. The storms had not quite reached us yet but the lightning show was tremendous. I decided I wanted some shots of it before it started to rain, camera is not waterproof. I drive to a spot where there is nothing to obstruct my view of the northern sky, this while noticing the warning sirens were sounding. I tend to ignore those as the people running them are trigger happy and set them off when they get spooked.

So I pull into the driveway of a local church and start shooting the sky. Not getting much as I am using my point and shoot instead of the good camera, that shutter lag can kill you when you are trying to take fast shots of something. The sky was ominous, well at least during lightning strikes, it was nighttime after all. I turned on the radio in time to catch a warning about some rotation in the storm spotted by radar, again, nothing to worry about as far as I was concerned.

Then, all hell broke loose!

The back end of my truck lifted about an inch or so, not off the ground mind you, just flexing the springs a bit. Followed quickly by my truck getting pelted with debris from the field behind and beside the church. My reaction was instant and surprising, I yelled “Oh sh**” and floored it onto the main road. Putting myself into a better position to see what was going on. Only straight line winds, thank God!

I made a rookie mistake when I planted myself there. I put the incoming storm behind me, I couldn’t see what was going on back there so I panicked when the wind hit me. Had I been turned the other way I would have seen the winds coming through the field by the debris it was blowing around.

Through it all, I didn’t even get a good shot of the lightning, or anything for that matter. So instead, enjoy this portion of a rainbow that I shot several days earlier. Which was also shot on the crappy small camera. Not really a very good shot but at least it’s something new to look at here!
