(Book Review)Trial By Ordeal by Craig Parshall
I’m really not sure where to start here so I will start with “Wow what an awesome read”. Let me tell you that I am, by nature, a slow reader, very slow. this book was so good and so hard to put down that I had done in two days what would normally take at least a week and a half.
Let’s do a quick breakdown of the story: Kevin, a college professor, has a life changing event that makes him want a slice of the good life. He decides to invest in real estate. He finds a nice piece of property with an aging church on it and decides to take the plunge figuring he can buy low and sell high.
Shortly before he closes on the property someone contacts him wanting to buy the property from him. He agrees to sell and makes a promise that he cannot keep. He soon finds out that the interested party is not going to let it go. Kevin ends up on the run from the mob, loses his job, and manages to fall in love with one of the people standing in the way of keeping his promise to the mob.
Yeah it does sound a bit contrived but believe me it works very well. The characters are well developed and the story never really slows down so much that you lose interest. Some of the lawyers that Kevin deals with remind me very much of people I have met, umm no offense to those people if you happen to read this and realize I am talking about you!
Craig Parshall has definitely got a new fan in me. I will be going out and getting more of his books to read. You can click the authors name to find out more about him and a bibliography. If you would like to know more about the publishers, Harvest House Publishers, and their offerings please click their name.
All in all a good solid read that I will give 5 out of 5 stars to.
Since I have never read a book of this genre before I have no authors to compare it to.
