I’ll warn you now, this post may get a little boring!

First photo up is my old school, North White. I tried to close crop it since they have built on a lot since I went there. Matter of fact this building used to be the whole school, now they have separate buildings for everything. I guess my little school grew up!

Next up is the Monon theater, It may not look like much but to me it was an escape. At one point my dad ran this theater. He let me run the projectors for awhile, my first real job. There were perks to having my dad run the theater, not the least of which was the free popcorn!

Now lets take a look at a place I have mentioned here before, Querry Pharmacy. I have so many fond memories of the place that I can’t possibly recall them all here. They had a soda fountain with the best root beer in the world! They had a rack of comic books and magazines which I was constantly picking through. They sold 45′s (yes that’s dating myself a bit) I love music so after the comics were all perused I went straight to the music section. It has been stripped of it’s former glory, all that remains is the word Coca Cola painted onto the window. Oh yeah, here’s the photo:

Lets look at a mural, not just any mural mind you, but one the high school painted to celebrate the bi-centennial in 1976. I remember that year, the celebration was over the top, especially for such a small town. They had live music, vendors, rides, and games all set up in the middle of Main street!

Monon was pretty much based around the railroad for the longest time. I’m sure you’ve heard of or seen a Monon railroad reference, or maybe not. This was the towns identity for the longest time until people stopped riding the trains everywhere. Soon a large company formed there called Monon Trailer. It soon became the towns identity, they were proud of their factory. It kept the town alive for many years, then it faded away. There was some scandal, maybe a little borrowing of money from the till and it was gone. Others tried to take it’s place but it was never the same. Now, Monon has taken back it’s railroad identity, much less embarrassing!

I was going to do a big spread on the town park, that was my favorite place to go when money was tight. I loved the playground, now most of it’s gone, replaced with some monstrosities that they deem “safe”. There was a horse corral where they had regular horse shows, gone! You used to be able to go out into the woods and hike, now private property. So what was left of the park for me, not much. Just this broken down old bridge, I totally identify with it now!

Just a quick post. I am editing photos now and hope to put up some sort of photo essay within the next few days. Just a stroll down memory lane for me.

I must say that Anna wasn’t too impressed. It’s hard to explain to her the memories associated with things that are no longer there. Most of the buildings are still there, but most of the businesses are long gone. The park isn’t as cool as I remember it. They have put in too many child safe (read: crappy) things.

Oh well, all things change except God who is always good. The one constant in our lives that we can count on.

Went to a wedding and reception for a family friend the other day. I only brought my point and shoot but I still managed to take a few shots to share.

I am starting to clear up now. Still have no idea what caused the hives but I sure am glad they’re going away.

I’ve been wanting to get out and do a halloween themed photo but between the hives and my crashed hard drive it hasn’t happened yet. I’m about halfway on the hard drive, hope to finish it off this week.

Anyone have an interesting idea for a halloween photo?
 
 

Seriously, those ads just annoy the crap out of me!

The fall colors are starting to come out and I need to get out there and capture some of it. I also need to get out there and do a shoot with Anna, not only of her but with her. She really loves wielding a camera almost as much as she loves being in front of one.

I am thankfully, completely over my bronchitis now and all I can say is good riddance to it! That was one of the major factors in my not getting outside to take any photos, that and the unbearable heat. Now it is cooling off outside and I am feeling pretty much normal for me, I have to get out.

I used to walk around my neighborhood at night because it was so quiet. Now I will only go out in the daylight. Not because I am scared of the dark. no but I am pretty sure I heard the deliverance theme song coming from the pickup of the guy down the road.

I don’t want to have to squeal like a piggy!

I hope it’s not a train.

As you may have gathered, considering my track record, I have not accomplished much over the last few weeks. I am finally recovering from my somewhat long winded illness. To celebrate I am going to share a photo. It’s poorly composed and the flowers were not very healthy. So what does one do in that situation? Over saturate it, tweak the contrast and hope no one notices!

Is my obsession with all these paranormal shows unhealthy?

I very rarely miss an episode of Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, or Ghost Hunters International among others. I love watching them, I get to see so many abandoned and historical places. I have always enjoyed exploring abandoned places, they are usually very photogenic and always a bit creepy. Now I just live vicariously through them.

Maybe someday I will get to have an adventure of  my own, for now my TV is the only adventure I can handle.

Since I have been ill I really haven’t been too productive. Thats not to say I have done nothing, just not much.

Other than that, I have basically become one with the bed. I am hoping that it is starting to clear up a bit now. Won’t get too excited yet as I thought that a few days ago too.
