Now I’m not one to complain!
Ok maybe I am but still.
This bronchitis is still sitting in my lungs and I am getting pretty darn tired of it. It made for a pretty blech weekend and now it is time to go back to work. I don’t want to go, for one thing it’s Monday and I hate Mondays. Then there is the fact that I am not quite well, it’s never fun to work when you feel like poo!
I did update my wordpress over the weekend and I am just waiting for the bug’s to show up. There were a few plug-ins that I use that are on the not working list. I left them in there and now I am waiting to see what happens with them. The site still loads so that is a plus and I can still access the admin area which is the only other thing I really worry about!
Did I mention that the 11 year old is also still sick? She got stuck being home with me and I am no fun on Mondays. The closer to time to go to work the grumpier I get. She will be hiding here soon as it is getting close to time to get ready for that dreaded place.
I did have a call back on a resume the other day, unfortunately it was for a scam job. I did some research on them just before they called back and found that they were not exactly the most reputable company in the world! Oh well.
Repercussions
This is what happens when things go wrong for me. Rather than work my butt off to fix everything, which I could have done. I opted to lighten up a bit and change the template. I replaced the posts that were necessary, like the book review, but I let the rest slide for now. They weren’t really all that important in the grand scheme of things anyway!
I changed the template yet again. This is actually the second one I tried. The first one was pretty cool but it wouldn’t show up right in Internet Explorer and over half my readers still use that horrid browser so I must make sure that they can read things too! I will try and figure out what is wrong with the other one and maybe use it in the future. For now I kind of like the simplicity of this look, it is light and loads a little faster. I also trimmed out some of the plug ins that weren’t really doing anything or were just flights of fancy.
Now I am going to go to bed, I have some shopping to do tomorrow. I had been trying to get my wifes B-day present for awhile now but it seemed like everything was against me saving any money for it. I had overtime this check so I just took it all out and did it that way!
Have an awesome weekend. If you find any problems with the site the way it is please let me know. There may be bugs and the contrast may be a bit off and make it harder to read for some. Don’t be shy, you won’t hurt my feelings if you tell me it is burning your retinas out. I might not fix it, but at least I will know!
Up, up and away
I upgraded my WordPress to 2.1 last night and it went without a hitch. Well almost!
To their credit they did say that some plug ins may be broken. There was only one that I have noticed so far and unfortunately it was one of my biggies! I use the link block widget to control the links in my side bar as I don’t want all the links on the page or it is huge!
For some reason when the re-did WordPress they decided to change the way the blogroll links work. They took out the table link_categories and replaced it with link2cat. They then moved the category names to the categories table so they sit alongside the post categories now.
They say they made 2.1 faster but I’m guessing they didn’t make the links faster as it is now making an extra call to the database and confusing the heck out of plug-in makers in the process.
I did fix the LinkBlock plug-in so if you want it for your blog let me know and I will send you a copy of the updated plug-in. I will be tweaking it even further as time permits.
