I will quit smoking, if it kills someone. I have tried several times and failed each one. I am not using a magic bullet this time. I am relying completely on prayer and Bible reading. If you want, you can send some prayers my way.

I am going to kick this habit, once and for all!

Day one (Welcome to hell revisited)

Well day one went as well as expected and now we are into day two. I spent a lot of time being jittery and grumpy yesterday. I think all in all I did rather well in not biting anyones head off. The last time I tried I used the patch and it didn’t work out all that well for me that and the darn things are expensive. This time I am using the lozenges. Tried the gum once too and ended up getting head rushes from it as I would chew too fast.

Anyway, I am using these slightly foul tasting lozenges. They are my lifeline to sweet sweet nicotine. Of course once I quit smoking I will have to go to Betty Ford to get off the lozenges! I found this handy little chart of what to expect after quitting.

20
MINUTES
———————————————

• Blood pressure drops to normal
• Pulse rate drops to normal
• Body temperature of hands and feet increases to normal

8
HOURS  ————————————————————

Carbon
monoxide level in blood drops to normal
• Oxygen level in blood increases to normal

24
HOURS ———————————————————

Chance
of heart attack decreases

48
HOURS ———————————————————

Nerve
endings start regrowing
• Ability to smell and taste is enhanced

2
WEEKS TO 3 MONTHS  ————————————

Circulation
improves
• Walking becomes easier
• Lung function increases up to 30 percent

1
TO 9 MONTHS  ————————————————

Coughing,
sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease
• Cilia regrow in lungs, increasing their ability to
handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce infection
• Body’s overall energy increases

It actually also covers 1, 5, 10, and 15 years but lets not get ahead of ourselves. God bless and have an awesome day!

Lord help me it’s winter break. I have Anna home with me and Desi went to her mothers. Don’t get me wrong, I love to play. I just want a break from pretending I am a pony every once in awhile.

For the millionth time I am quitting smoking. I even got rid of things that remind me of smoking. No more lighter in my pocket, even if it is convenient. I have a little more resolve this time plus I set myself up by telling everyone I was quitting again. I want them there to remind me when I am tempted.

I keep hearing a strange whistling sound from Anna’s room. I don’t remember buying her a whistle!
