HI HO HI HO

It’s off to work I go.

Going back to work today, not looking forward to it. My foot still hurts like heck and I have to hobble everywhere I go. I am just going to have to delegate as much of the walking as I can to others around me.

I enjoyed having the last few days off and wish I could have a few more but I just know they really miss me at work! (That is just dripping with sarcasm)

Today was the first day back to school for my girls. I know the 11 year old was panicking since she is in middle school now. New building and new people, it can be pretty overwhelming but I have faith in her ability to adapt. The youngest gets to go to the same school for a few more years and I am amazed at the rate at which she is growing. It seems like only yesterday I was holding her cradled in my arms and singing to her. Now she is in 2nd grade and acting way too old for her britches.

My wife and I sent them off today and I was amazed at the amount of preparation an 11 year old has to make. Hair, clothes, all that stuff that girls have to deal with. When I was that age getting ready for school involved getting out of bed and slamming down a pop tart and start walking. I lived in town so we didn’t ride the bus, only the country students did that! Now it seems like everyone rides the bus, of course there aren’t any sidewalks for the kids to walk on anymore, but I will save that rant for another post.

I seem to just be rambling so I am going to get off here and get ready for my first day back to work. Now where is my back pack and did mom leave me any lunch money?

A sense of longing?

Does anyone else here miss the eighties? You know, except for the hair and the clothes. Some of the music was pretty ok don’t you think? Sure most of the bands of the eighties didn’t make it past one or two albums and you would be hard pressed to find any of them today but still it was alright, wasn’t it? So what if Boy George is picking up garbage, I mean everyone has a bad day sometimes!

And who can forget Men At Work, oh yes so most of the world has, well I haven’t! Who else, oh yeah, what about Rockwell? Now he was a hoot. Spandau Ballet made me want to slow dance with my broom. The Thompson Twins set the standard for hair doos for the longest time.

Sure INXS tried to make a comeback but without Michael it just wasn’t the same. That and they made themselves into a freakshow by having that stupid reality show to find a new lead singer.

Think, think, oh Big Country, now there was a hit machine. Dexy’s Midnight Runners with their somewhat nasty “Come on Eileen”, wow what a song that was! Frankie Goes to Hollywood, nah they sucked. How about Berlin, mmm that sultry “Take My Breath Away” rowr. The Pet Shop Boys, whoa baby they rocked the house. Wham/George Michael, well what can you say about them and still keep your sense of pride?

Yeah thats has my sarcasm level up pretty high. I think I will go talk to the president now!
